The Moment We’ve Been Waiting For….

After a long day waiting to hear where I will be traveling to over this summer, the team I am blessed to be a part of is EuroQuest!

Believe is or not Europe is one of the least evangelized continents in the world!!! Roughly about 2% attend a Christian church! We will be traveling through London, England; move on to Brugge, Belgium; and Fricekhaussen, Germany; from there we will settle in Zell Am see, Austria; then Libijana, Slovenia; Pula, Croatia; and then the lovely Verona, Italy, next, Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland; the famous Paris, France; and lastly we will be debriefing where we started, London, England!

We will be performing street evangelism and working alongside missionaries in campgrounds, streets, and town squares in those major cities!!!

If any of you would like to see more information on EuroQuest click HERE !!!!

I am getting ready to send out newsletter to all of you supporters updating you in more detail of the rest of this Kairos journey!!! :)

Just wanted to give you all a quick little update to share in my joy/excitement!!

I love you all, thank you so much for your prayers and support!

Learning From The Master

Hey supporters and friends! :)

I have been learning a ton right now in the first few weeks back in class with Kairos and getting back into the groove of things after getting back from Spring Break! I hope to start updating my blog more often than once a month for those of you back home interested in everything going on here. This past two weeks have been all about Spiritual Leadership, and well....I just want to say that I have been ruined for the ordinary :)

First Tom and Melia Ives spoke, two people who are on Reign Staff who I highly respect! One of the first things I remember Tom saying was this, "Leadership isn't found in the Bible...so why are we so focused on it?"

I learned you are a leader when you are an influencer, and more importantly when you influence others to become the person God created them to be.  In ministry there are different types of leaders:

  • Visionary Leaders- they see potential of what God can do.
  • Administrative Leaders- they see the task of what God wants to do.
  • Shepherding Leaders- they see the needs of the people that God wants to use in order to build up the body of Christ.

If you want to learn how to be a leader, know how to be a servant. Tom warned us on how to know when we are Leading Out of Power:

  • Being Abusive
  • Controlling
  • Demanding Respect
  • Impatient
  • Harmful to those underneath you

Leading Out of Image:

  • Justify breaking the rules
  • Incompetent (How I look to others)
  • Will marginalize people if they ruin my image
  • Avoidance (conflict)

The next week a friend of mine who is a Reign Staff, Curtis Burnam came and spoke about Youth Ministry! This is where my world of "Evangelism" began to start turning upside-down! Instead of focusing on exact plans to carry out ministry, or a detailed lecture on how to do this, or how to do that, we began talking about Jesus. Curtis asked us how Jesus did  it? What was his method? What was his purpose in his ministry? Curtis gave it to us like this:

Building-->Equipping-->Equip To Win-->Multiplying

Jesus built relationships with the 12 disciples so much that he spent every minute with them for 3 years in order to constantly be pouring into them and teaching them his ways! He did not exclude the masses he specifically invested his time with the 12 because he knew that in order to build true disciples that would continue to make disciples, he needed to invest in only a few at a time.

Erika Breiby then spoke to us on Leadership and the importance of our hearts in Leadership. One thing she said that I really took to heart about a leader was this, "You can't give away things you don't have yourself." She gave us a really cool definition of what character is: "who you are when no one's around."

5 ESSENTIAL CHARACTER QUALITIES IN A LEADER:

  • Integrity- Living in a way that honors God, unified. Proverbs 10:9
  • Humility- Choosing to be known for who you really are. John 3:30
  • Self-Discipline- Staying consistent with obeying rules or values you've set for yourself. Hebrews 12:11; 1 Cor. 9:24
  • Perseverance - In the moments when things get hard, remaining faithful. James 1:2-4; Galatians 6:9
  • Attitude- Impacts how others interact. Is Contagious.

We need to change our view on Evangelism and realize that we need to adopt and take after our Master, Jesus Christ, and focus on a few people to disciple at a time, rather than have "our eyes bigger than our stomachs."

This Sunday, Easter Sunday will be my first Sunday not attending church! We are traveling to Arkansas on Sunday to serve at a church and receiving teachings during the week. Also we are going to be visiting IHOP (International House of Prayer) in Kansas City! Please if you could be praying for traveling mercies for me and my classmates as we travel in vans from April 8th-16th! I hope everyone is doing great and hope to be talking to you soon! Love you all and God Bless,

Danielle DiTerlizzi

The Face of God

Hey everyone! I hope that everyone is doing great! I'd like to give you a quick update of what I've been here! For the past 2 1/2 weeks I have been in rural Honduras in the Opalaca Mountains! They are located on the southwest corner of Honduras. Kairos Discipleship School partnered with Mercy International top bring the Gospel to the Lenca Indians throughout the Opalaca Mountains!
To sit here and try to type all the things that happened in Honduras and all the things God has been showing me would take a really long time. I do want to share with you how I saw God in Honduras. The picture above is the view I woke up to 9/16 days while there. To see the mountains, with a foggy layer covering them so the peak was not visible was an absolutely amazing thing to see. To literally imagine God's hand painting such a picturesque sight would bring a smile to my face every morning. To sit outside every morning during quiet time with nothing to do but read quietly His Word and feel His breath in the wind, blowing gently pushing against the pages of my Bible as I would read. Now my time in Honduras was not quite this simple the whole time. Once we  hiked into our first village after the village of San Pedrito, me and two translators were the first to get there. It was a quiet hike, but once the children saw us coming, they would yell,"GRINGOS, GRINGOS!" (white people) The children were sweet, they never once asked why they didn't have the things that we did. We did VBS' in that village and surrounding villages. At the beginning of this trip, I went knowing that I would potentially be bringing the Gospel to places it has never before. I thought that knowing that should have gotten me more excited than I was, but that was soon to change. :) The morning of February 17th we were getting ready to split up in groups and hike to three different villages. At the last minute I changed the group I was with and started our hike to the village of Agua Sucia (Dirty Water). It was a 3 hour hike, but once we got there it felt good to be done walking! We saw little kids coming towards us and told them to go get there friends! They came back and there was around 20 kids ages ranging from maybe 3-11. We started doing our VBS and teaching the kids songs like "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy down In My Heart" and "Jesus Loves Me" (in Spanish). Brian, who is a staff on Kairos, was about to teach them Jesus Loves Me when he asked, "Do you guys know who Jesus is?" The translator translated and then there was a moment of about 30 seconds of pure silence. This was such an uncomfortable silence for me.... My body shivered with goose bumps, I heard my heart beating, pounding harder and harder in my chest. To know that none of the kids I was staring at had never heard the good news of the Gospel got me feeling such an incredible feeling. I felt that I truly was bringing the Gospel to places it had never been. I felt a part of the Great Commission. I felt a part of changing lives for one short 30 seconds. All of this, going on in my head... it was the best day in Honduras and one of the best days in my entire life. We shared the Gospel with those children, gave hugs, played games, and then left. We didn't spend a significant amount of time with these kids....but God gave me peace. He gave me peace knowing that our team had just planted 20 little seeds in those kids hearts, He gave me peace not worrying rather they understood it or even believed it for that matter. My heart was at peace and that's all that mattered that day. You see, we can't get all tied up on how many people we can reach for God, because we really aren't the ones doing the work inside their hearts. God has given us His Word to constantly be planting seeds. After the seeds are planted, God, in His timing, will water the seed and continue to do work in someone's heart. This is the most valuable lesson I have learned about patience. Hondurans are amazing people, they are kind, hospitable and very eager in learning about their Heavenly Father. Seeing their eagerness was an encouragement to me and the rest of my team.
I am having a dinner/concert to raise funds to complete the rest of the money that is due for Kairos this Friday, March 2nd to share some more short testimonies about all that happened while I was in Honduras and what God has been teaching me through Kairos as well. I would really like to see as many people as I can get to go and have a great night enjoying good food, AMAZING worship, and a nice time of fellowship with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope that if you are coming you will invite friends who AREN'T believers, and trust that God WILL USE YOU in planting His Seeds!! Amen!

God Bless You All,

Father Heart of God

So it's been a while since I have written and I apologize the past few weeks have been filled with lots and lots of planning, packing, and preparing! The week I got back from home I dove into class all week about the "Father Heart of God" led by Doug Easterday! First of all I would like to thank Doug so much for the wisdom you shared with me personally that week and I want to encourage you to keep reaching students for Christ! You are such an amazing teacher and have opened up lots of past pain that I am now free from thanks to my Heavenly Father and you!

Some of the things that I took away from Doug were this: Have you ever treated your relationship with God as a normal relationship? What if we stopped treating God the way we do and started treating him as if we are actually in a relationship with him?! Ask him questions, talk with him, and most of all, spend time with Him. That's really all he wants! How do we do this? Well FIRST off we have to destroy our concepts of who we have thought of God to be.

Where do our Concepts of God come from?

  • Family
  • Church (religion)
  • Education
  • Media

Think about what these four things above have told us about who God is? They have told us that God is supposed to be our daddy, and in a family where daddy is the only example of what you know God to be like.....that sets our expectations of God as our Father pretty far from what they should be. Then, school's teach us that we have evolved from monkeys! They have said that the world was created by a big BOOM? I mean.....SERIOUSLY?! Next we have the church, now I'm not trying to offend anyone, but the church has skewed our concept of God as our Father by putting boundaries on our relationship with him! Lastly, the media has done everything in their power to DESENSATIZE US TO SIN.....This is why we have a world that is falling from our Lord Jesus Christ!

I'm going to ask you a question and I would like for you to ponder it, for a long time, pray over it, don't just answer it in one day. I am still praying over it and trying to find the answer to it!

"If you don't think you please your own father, then how are you able to please your Heavenly Father?"

Now I'm going to try and tell you a little more of how my concept of God as my Father has changed. By saying this: God is PROUD that we are His, our value in God's eyes is NOT based on performance! Phew.....I am so glad I got that out....because now all of you who have thought that God's love is given to you based on the works you do, you do not have to worry about that anymore, He is STILL GOING TO LOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Zephaniah 3:17 says this, "For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."

It says that we are the APPLE OF HIS EYE!!! In Hebrew this translates to....YOU ARE EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED!

Still don't believe me....ok well here is a scripture that I hope and pray touches as deeply in your heart as it did mine :)

Isaiah 49:16

"See I have ENGRAVED YOU in the PALM OF MY HAND!..."

In Psalm 139 it says that God thinks about me more often than the amount of grains of sand on the beach....ARE YOU SERIOUS? no really, has anyone ever tried counting sand?! C'mon, don't give me any excuses, I'm telling you that YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER LOVES YOU MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER KNOW!

There is no way I could ever cover the amount of material that we covered over 5 days with Doug, but just know that I would like some feedback on this post please, if you don't want to comment on my site then you can email me. My personal email is daniellediterlizzi@gmail.com

I am leaving tomorrow for Speaking Blitz with Kairos. We are starting here in the Minneapolis area in the church I intern at (Woodridge Church) then we are heading to Albert Lee, MN. Monday we drive to Wisconsin to speak to two different churches there then we are off to Chicago! After a few days of speaking in Chicago we are going to Michigan for about a week then its back to Chicago for a day then to Indiana then finally back home! Only thing I would ask please if for prayer for safe travels and for the students we will be speaking to that God would just soften their hearts right now to be ready for what we are bringing to them! Thank you everyone for keeping up with me!

In Christ,

Danielle

We went to a bunch of different places like Dialogue In The DarkBodies ExhibitWorld of Coke and some others too! I had so much fun and I can't wait to see everyone now that I am home. I keep getting more and more support coming in and I just want to thank all of you for your gifts no matter the amount I am so happy to have brothers and sisters in Christ supporting me through this Kairos season. I hope to see a lot of you on Christmas Eve at church. If I don't get to see anyone I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and keeps in mind what Christmas is all about. I love you all and can't wait to share stories with you!

Living a Life of Destiny

Wick Nease taught this week about Destiny, a topic of which most of us don't have lots of experience with. Wick, I thank you so much for being so influential in my Kairos season, and yielding to God's calling in your life! The biggest thing I have taken away from Wick's teaching is this: When we love God with all our heart, we begin to ask God what He wants in our lives, rather than what we want for ourselves. When we trust God with our Destiny the blessings of Destiny are ALWAYS GREATER.

Jesus can only become something when we become nothing!

When we begin to live the life that God has called us to live, we will begin to transform the destiny of thousands of others.

  • BUT the miracle comes after we take the FIRST STEPS OF OBEDIENCE!

I am preparing for leaving this cold state :) I will be flying out on December 17th and coming back here on Jan 2nd! On Jan 13th I will be traveling with my class and staff to Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan for our Speaking Blitz. We will be performing drama's and give mission testimonies to churches in those areas. Hopefully I will be able to meet with lots of you when I am home!

Here is a video of a glimpse from our day of prayer this friday! Hope you enjoy! Love you all!

Angels, Demons, and Dean OH MY

I've been learning about Spiritual Warfare with Dean Sherman this whole week and I absolutely love what I've been learning. In order to not bore you all with how much I've been learning, I'm just gonna pick the topic of Angels and Demons to talk about!

It seems to me that whenever someone mentions angels, everyone doesn't really know how to respond? We have not been brought up understanding the spiritual world outside of the world that we live in and get so consumed in daily. We forget that angels are around us all the time! Here are some scriptures  that show just how we've forgotten how close angels really are to us!

Hebrews 12:22 says that we have an "innumerable amount of angels among us."

Psalm 34:7 says that "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them."

Acts 12:15 shows that the early church was aware that angels were always around! We need to be aware of that as well!

ALSO one thing that some people fail to understand is that there are more ANGELS around than DEMONS.

I've learned that there are 3 different types of angels

  • Warrior Angels (Michael)
  • Messenger Angels (Gabriel)
  • Worship (Lucifer)

Realizing how close is crucial to fighting spiritual warfare is good to remember and know how powerful prayer is. When we pray for healing, or for anything really, we need to pray that up until God reveals or answers our prayer!

Didn't want to overwhelm you guys so for now this is all, BUT I think I am going to do an update shortly of pictures from my Thanksgiving break! Comments welcome <3

Relationships Pure & Simple

Today was about Relationships with Alan and Marti Wibbels was such an awesome lesson! Here's some of the major things I got from their teaching!

Relationships....WHAT'S THE CORRECT WAY TO HAVE A GODLY RELATIONSHIP??!?!?!
Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Before anything, GOD has YOU in mind! I just think that's so awesome!

God cares MORE about who I marry than I do!?! Seems crazy right?!?!

Live in the moment!

Seek HIS KINGDOM FIRST

Hebrews 12:1-2 "....LET US THROW OFF everything that hinders and THE SIN that so easily entangles, and LET US RUN with perseverance THE RACE marked out for us. LET US FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross."

Things we need to ask ourselves IN A RELATIONSHIP:

  • Are we Christ-controlled or self-controlled?
  • Do we idol or take comfort in things in place of God?
  • Are we modeling the Fruits of the Spirit?
  • Is our relationship Glorifying/Honoring God?

CONTENTMENT, COMMITMENT, COMMUNITY

These three topics of "Relationships Pure & Simple that Alan and Marti stressed to us!

Contentment:

  • Philippians 4:11-13
  • 1 Timothy 6:6-8

Satisfaction without examination, we need to learn to be satisfied with all that God wants to give us and no more!

Commitment:

  •  1 Thessalonians 4:3-7
    • Be sanctified
    • Avoid sexual immorality
    • Learn to CONTROL your own body
    • Live a Holy Life

Community:

  • 1 Corinthians 12:12,13;18,20 THE MESSAGE
    • God's plan is to live a part of the Body of Christ.
  • Hebrews 13:15
    • Let God satisfy you
    • Let Him provide your deepest needs
    • Ley your heart be contented in Him instead of dictated by circumstances.

We all struggle in our relationships and understanding how to have the right relationship is hard. But with these guidelines and the power of The Word of God we can accomplish anything.
